Our new vision for Mission Outreach at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church is “Shoulder
to Shoulder.” We will join Christ in the mission He has begun in us and
experience the joy of sharing God’s gifts.
We have heard this story before. “There aren’t enough funds,
not enough resources; the food shelves and clothing closets are empty, there aren’t enough jobs, not enough scholarships
or school supplies, we don’t have enough volunteers, we’re running out of … (fill in the blank).
The problem is not the lack of resources—that will never be a problem.
If we look hard enough and if it is important to us, we can always find money, resources, time, food, volunteers, housing,
etc. Jesus says in Matthew 6:21 that “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
That’s what we really need—room in our hearts. If we don’t
make room in our hearts for new ideas, new people, new communities to help and love, we will always cry “no room!”
When you open your heart to the needs of other people, you will want to give.

Food
Shelf Ministry The Ralph
Reeder Food Shelf is a community program of the
Mounds View School District. It serves residents
in our school district - our friends and neighbors
- who are having difficulty putting food on
their table: the fellow next door who is out of
work, the elderly widow whose prescription bills
sometimes eat into her grocery money, or your child's
school buddy whose single parent struggles to make
ends meet. It relies heavily on food and cash donations
from community organizations such as Shepherd of
the Hills. Click

Sharing & Caring Hands Founded in 1985, this organization is a safety net to help those who cannot obtain
help from the welfare system. They exist as a vehicle for volunteers to commit
their time and resources to making a difference in the lives of the people of our community.
One area where adults can make a difference is by offering services in the area of your profession (legal advice,
dentist or nursing services, financial planning, etc.). For more information, see
the national web site or contact: Pastor Vera
St. Paul Area Council of Churches of the ELCA
