What is LYN Ministry?  The purpose of LYN ministry is to …. serve our neighbors ( Members and Non-members) during times of physical crisis or sudden life changes, to provide friendship, support and assistance with the non-medical daily life needs.

This ministry responds to the non-medical “ quality of life” needs that can occur very suddenly in the lives of individuals and their families.

       

“ You shall love the Lord your God with all you heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. “

                                  - Luke 10:27

 

How does LYN Serve our neighbors?

 

LYN Care Givers do for a friend what a friend would do.  They assist people with services such as:

 

¬      Meals

¬      Laundry

¬      Light Housekeeping

¬      Transportation

¬      Errands

¬      Lawn care / SnowShoveling

¬      Handyman

¬      Child Care

¬      Respite Care

¬      Keeping in Touch

¬      Outings / Lunch

 

Care givers also bring the Sacrament of Holy Communion to the homebound and they celebrate new births/adoptions with visits, gifts and meals.

What is required of Care Givers?

 

¬      Care Givers should be good listeners who have a heart for people.  No special training or skills needed.

¬      You can serve as frequently or infrequently as you choose.

¬      You can serve temporarily or for longer period.

¬      You can choose to help provide one or many of the listed services.

What Neighbors are Served?

 

Lyn Ministry Care Givers serve members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church as well as their friends and family who may not be members of Shepherd.

 

When Would I Need this Ministry?

¬      If you had surgery, A Care Giver could visit and bring a meal

¬      If you need transportation, a Care Giver could give you a ride to a medical appointment or Sunday services.

¬      If you are caring for a loved one, a Care Giver could stay with your loved one while you attend to other life matters.

¬      If you recently had a baby, a Care Giver could visit and bring a meal or gift.

¬ If you are not able to attend Sunday services, a Care Giver could bring Communion.
